Today was the first dance rehearsals and it was so much fun. Learning the routine took longer than I thought it would, but it meant we were able to get the moves sharp and to a high standard. I'm glad we've got dancing in our performance as it incorporates a different aspect of performing. I thought I picked up the dance well and I helped others who needed help with it. For the next dance rehearsal, I need to be wearing more suitable clothes so I am able to move more.
5th February:
Today we refreshed our memories of the 'Run the World' dance. As we now have set positions just before the dance we practiced the transition from our positions into the dance. We also learnt the choreography for 'Wings'. I like this dance as it has a Charleston step in it and this reflects the next scene as we go into my monologue which is set in the 1920's.
27th February:
We finished off the last two dances today. The 'Better than Revenge' dance begins with Taylor Swift saying "Now go and stand in the corner and think about what you did" and I think this sums up how all the characters are feeling in this section of the play because they all think Scarlett is dead and they feel bad for being so rude about her. I think the movements also reflect how they are feeling as the dance is very sharp and rigid, compared to the other two dances where everyone is in time and together. The 'Slut Like You' dance also shows how the girls are feeling. The script states that the girls don't really try in this final dance, and Ben has chosen to reflect this. When the lyrics are sung we strike a pose sharply but one by one begin to lose interest in what we are doing.
