At first, our rehearsal time was dedicated to giving out the lines to each person.
Once we'd gone through the whole script, we started by blocking the scenes and deciding when we would change position and what seemed like a new scene, as there are no specific scenes in the script.
By completing warm up exercises we were able to engage with our characters e.g. walking around the room with a different feeling. Other warm up activities we have undertook have included breathing techniques, touching the floor if it's not our line and jumping up if it is your line. All these exercises have helped us to get into character and help to get us motivated for the rest of the rehearsal.
I think for most of the rehearsal process I have worked hard, and I am one of the few who came to every rehearsal. It was annoying not having a whole cast for our rehearsals because this play is very fast paced and it isn't helpful when we can't make it fast as we don't have everyone there.
The week before our show, we began to take seriously our independent rehearsals. We did a full run through with everyone, and although at points it lacked enthusiasm, everyone knew their lines which I was very surprised about. Tensions were beginning to run high whenever someone forgot a line or took too long to say their line after someone else's, and so people were beginning to stress out and the play became slow and boring. It was only once people were correct with their ques that the play began to run smoothly and quicker than it had been before.
The tech run went rather well considering it was the first time we'd been in the space. It was still a little slow in some places but overall it wasn't too bad. We asked to have the music at Tyler's party turned up more, however we were told that we would have to practically shout over the music so that the audience could actually hear us. The dances went well but we had a few spacing issues. There were still issues with the Tyler/Jay scene, and considering Evan Placey was coming to watch us on the opening night we didn't want to get anything wrong.
